Baby FeedingWhen you are pregnant you have many decisions to make and one of them is how are you going to nourish your child. As a new born you must choose breast or bottle. As the get past that stage home made or store bought baby food. Once they can eat on their own ans start talking you will then have to have made up your mind on what will be allowed as far as what is called junk food and other food you know are not good for you. Let it be known you can not do it your self but not let them have it. You will discover they won't stop asking and begging and eventually winning for the same stuff you are eating. It is funny though who the will beg a plead for the stuff they are better off not eating but when it come to the healthy stuff you will really hear something along the lines of “can I have some more vegetables?”. If you are one of those lucky few that have convinced your children to love the good food and not the bad stuff, first and for most congratulations, and could you please forward your secret. The benefits of breast feeding are many some proven some not, like health for the baby, weight loss for you. As a friend once told my husband before we had kids and just after they had had their first make sure you convince her to nurse because, that way you don't have to get up for late night feedings since you can't help with them. Other great advantages is that you always have the right amount at the right temperature, no wait time needed to mix or warm formula. Of course there are also some disadvantages you have to pump if you are planing on leaving the baby with someone else and if you go long periods with out feeding or pumping you will leak and maybe even get your top wet, which can be quite embarrassing. As some might tell you your nipples can get really sore and crack so make sure you have the baby latch on properly and use something like Lansinosh to keep them in good condition. Also at some point, in every nursing career if you nurse past the first month, you will get bitten, most likely no teeth yet but I will let you know it hurts just as much. Now I'm not against formula it has its benefits and for some it is the only way. I have met various women that have told me while pregnant that breasts are for pleasure only. And even though I believe breast are for pleasure they also work great for feeding little babies. However I do draw the line at how old you should nurse your child and if they can ask for it or reach in your shirt for it then they are way to old. Like a bottle should be removed some time between ages one and two so should the breast.
